cannot delete browsing history

hello, i have tried everything to delete my browsing history.
i've checked all the boxes to delete my browsing history under the safety tab, i've even clicked on the red X tab, and reset ie8 settings.
however all of this has not worked.
all the previous
websites still show.
how can i delete these?

First thing to try would be to see if the problem occurs in Internet Explorer (No add-ons).
You can do this by:
Click the Start Orb Click All Programs Click Accessories Click System Tools Click Internet Explorer (No add-ons)
If you still experience the problem, then we'll need to try a clean boot.
You can do this by:
Click the Start Orb Search msconfig Click Continue on the User Account Control Under the General tab, Click Selective startup
Uncheck the box for Load startup items Click the Services tab Click Hide all Microsoft services Click Disable all Click Apply Click OK Click Restart
Once you have gone through the restart, open Internet Explorer and test to see if you can delete your history.
If no problem occurs you just have to find out which of the services you disabled was causing the problem.
To do this:
Click the Start Orb Search msconfig Click Continue on the User Account Control Under the General tab, Click Selective startup
Uncheck the box for Load startup items Click the Services tab Click Hide all Microsoft services Check the box of half of the services (this enables them) Click Apply Click OK Click Restart
Once you have gone through the restart, open Internet Explorer and test to see if you can still delete the history.
If no problem still, then go through the same process, and enable half of the remaining (unchecked) services.
Continue this process until
you single out which process is causing the conflict.
Once you know which program you should probably remove that program or possibly upgrading it (if available) to fix the problem.

To return to a normal startup:
Click the Start Orb Search msconfig Click Continue on the User Account Control Click Normal startup Click OK Click Restart or Restart Later (if prompted)
