This occurred after an in-place upgrade from Vista to Widows 7 Home Premium.
I must have changed the name of the computer or the account name.

Hi,

a. Did you successfully finish the upgrade?
b. When exactly do you get this error message?
c. Had you set any tasks before upgrading to windows 7?
d. Did you set any task after upgrading?

You may try creating the new user account and check if the issue persists there.
1.
Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts,
if you are connected to a network domain) and then clicking User Accounts.

2.
Click Manage another account.

3.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4.
Click Create a new account.

5.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type and then click Create Account.

If it works in a new user account then you need to fix the corrupt user profile.

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

• Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
• Click on Boot Tab
• Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
• Select Network.
• Click Apply and OK.
• Reboot your System.

How to Fix An error has occurred in task reminders-Sherry. Error message: The specified account name is not valid. with SmartPCFixer?
