Auto-rotate has stopped working on Acer 1820PT running Windows 7 in tablet mode

I have an Acer 1820PT that has the ability to auto-rotate the screen when I flip into tablet mode.
The auto-rotate has stopped working since a Win 7 update occurred.
I can still rotate the screen using the shortcut keys, but that is annoying once you have converted to tablet mode and it will auto-rotate back to normal mode.
I think I have narrowed it down to the installation of the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel.
I can't uninstall it (says I don't have the right to) to test this theory.
Anyone know what is actually wrong and how to fix it? I'm about ready to switch to Ubuntu if this keeps up.
