Browser (IE7) stops working after a couple of hours
Since saturday 26th March the browser on my Vista (32 bit) computer stops working after a couple of hours.
The background is that it was all working fine until I uninstalled McAfee Security and installed Zonealarm.
However, I have uninstalled Zonealarm
as well and just have the Windows Firewall running now - and I still have this problem! Other internet connected applications such as Outlook and Windows Live continue to work fine - it's just the browser that stops connecting to the internet.
Note that to make sure that the McAfee software had been removed I downloaded and ran the McAffee clearup tool.
The workaround is that I have to reboot - and everything is fine for a while.
Then a couple fo hours later the problems reoccurs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The problem seems to gave 'gone away'.
I notice on one of my other PCs (this one running XP) that Zonealarm issued a software update for their Firewall yesterday.
I suspect that my problem was caused by a Windows Update acting in an unexpected manner with Zonealarm and then somehow hanging around
after I uninstalled Zonealarm.
This is a reminder to me to make sure that I don't keep all my systems using the same anti virus and firewall software!

Boot in Safe Mode:
- Open Run command as previously described
- Type MSConfig
- Click on Boot tab
- Tick Safe boot in Boot option
- Select Network
- Click Apply and OK
- Reboot your system
Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
